Before you learn how to use Pokesav, it is vital that you know something about it first. Basically it is a program that can be used for editing different aspects of the Pokemon game. Fortunately, it isn’t that difficult to learn how to use this program, as long as you follow the instructions of course.
There are two ways to use it. The first is to move your Pokemon save file to a computer where Pokesav is installed and then use Pokesav to edit it. The other method is to create AR (Action Relay) codes and then proceed with the game editing. While code generating sounds complex, it is actually pretty simple to do.
After you are done editing, go to the “AR DS Code Output” button and click it. Choose the boxes at the output screen (this will vary depending on what you were editing). For example, if you were editing the ID, choose the ID box.
Click the button marked save file. This will allow the software to choose the right AR codes for exporting and then save it as XML. The XML file can then be placed at the AR Code Manager and from there put in the ARDS. Once they are in place you can use Diamond or Pokemon Pearl to open the files.
Just press L+R to turn the codes on. Or you can manually put the codes at the Code Manager. If you want to go the manual route, launch Notepad and open the XML file. Look for the right code. But you need to make sure that only a few codes are open at the same time otherwise the game might crash.
How to Use Flash Cart
First you need to get your hand on a device that can restore and back up saves in DS carts. Now move the file from the cartridge to your computer. The file will be either 512 or 256 kb. You will also want to create a backup of the saved file before launching the program. Now you just need to choose the right file size and open it. Edit the file as required and then put it back into the cartridge.
More Information about Pokesav
This program was made for the sole purpose of editing the following save files: Pokémon Black 2, Pokémon White, and Pokémon Black. It can also edit the save files for Pokemon SoulSilver, HeartGold, Platinum, and Diamond. The program was developed by COM, a Japanese programmer. There are two versions. One is for the Platinum save file and the other for Pearl and Diamond.
The software also works with those that were backed up from GameShark Duo or from R4. In addition, you can use the application for exporting Action Replay DS codes. When these are turned on, the in game effects will be there, which is one reason why it is so popular. In other words people that use PokeSav can place them in the DS and still be able to edit them.
Given these facts it is easy to see why a lot of people want to know how to use Pokesav. Fortunately as you can see, there really is nothing to the process. Once you learn how to sue the program, you will be editing those game files like a professional.
